Shooting Investigation Bagnell

On the evening of 07/23/2018, Miller County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 116 Old Bagnell road for a 911 call referencing a shooting that had occurred. Upon arrival deputies found a victim with a single non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm and was immediately transported to a local hospital after receiving care at the scene. During the course of the investigation, investigators learned that the gunshot victim went to the residence and entered unlawfully into the home with a hatchet and made threats towards the homeowner. A physical confrontation between the two parties occurred and during the scuffle, the homeowner shot the person that entered his home. The sheriff’s office has referred charges for review to the prosecutor’s office on the subject that entered unlawfully. Miller County Prosecutor Ben Winfrey stated that the shooting was justified based on preliminary information obtained during the investigation, however the case is still under review.
